Members playing over the weekend 16/17 Nov will be aware that some Temporary Greens were in play. This was a protective measure to preserve our greens from damage due to frost on some greens in shaded areas of our course.
Over the past month or so members will have observed that our course staff have cut out Temporary Greens throughout the course in the event that they may be needed for play over the Winter/Spring period 2019-2020.
All members are reminded that when these temporary greens are NOT being used, they are considered GUR from which play is prohibited by a local rule posted on the notice board at the first tee.
The logic behind such a local rule is to ensure that these obviously recognisable areas of the course are not cut up unnecessarily by players taking divots when their ball comes to rest on temporary greens when they are NOT in play.
So, please remember that when a ball comes to rest on temporary greens, whether marked GUR or not, that a player MUST take relief by first determining their nearest point of complete relief and dropping their ball within one club of this point no nearer the hole.
